Some answers for frequently asked questions

Spadefoot Nursery is a local, retail plant nursery in Tucson Arizona that grows native plants, domestic edible crops, and botanical curiosities. We focus on growing and providing locally grown plants that are appropriate for our region and service the local fauna.

Currently we are just two people; we we are open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10am-5pm.. The rest of the week we spend growing and moving plants to the retail space. Our retail space is at 2831 East Broadway Boulevard, behind Jen’s Organic Home, which we share a parking lot with. Though we purchased a new retail space, we won’t be moving to it probably until 2025.

You can see everything we have in stock here, anytime. You can even purchase and reserve online for pickup during our open hours. Sorry, we do not ship plants.

No, we do not do installation, consultation, and such, but here is a list of the people we trust.

This website is under construction. We provide a lot of information on how to grow in OUR region, which is very different from other places. You can follow us on Instagram and Facebook for regular flows of useful information. We just started updating our website, and the move of information is a lot of work, but almost every day we are adding more to the Plant Information tab. Please come back to find more added information.

We grow native plants from the southwestern United States and Mexico. We especially are interested in plants that support our local fauna (wildlife).

We also grow domestic edible crops—useful edible and medicinal plants. So long as they aren’t invasive species.

And we grow botanical curiosities—plants that inspire awe. So long as they aren’t invasive species.

We grow our plants without the use of pesticides. Our aim is to help you make your landscape and garden safe for wildlife (and safe for you as well).

About Us

Spadefoot nursery is a local plant nursery in Tucson, Arizona. We are small (the nursery is owned and run by just two people) and are dedicated to our mission of encouraging placed-based horticulture, supporting local wildlife and suiting the human needs we all have for plants.

Growing plants is one way you can reconnect with the land that you live on, and if done right, is a healthy step toward healing the damage that has been done to the planet.

Grow a landscape that exhibits a sense of place.
